When you travel, it is comforting to know that your trusty 1911 can go with you, and in many states, it can. You have to remember that you have to abide by the laws in the state in which you are traveling, but if you do, then your Michigan Concealed Pistol License will be as good there as it is here.
One thing you will notice, that the list of states that recognize your Michigan CPL is smaller than the list of states that Michigan recognizes. Why is that? Because Michigan, as a Will Issue state (where the license must be granted if the applicant meets the requirements), will recognize licenses from May Issue states (where the granting authority has discretion as to whether or not issue the license), while those May Issue states do not necessarily reciprocate.
Be Warned: The State of Illinois has NO concealed carry licensing and will not recognize a license from any other jurisdiction.
